This spot is most suited for couples who love nature and this place is also perfect to get away from the population. The only drawback is that the park open for only very limited hours during day time. You need to park somewhere outside and vehicles are also not allowed inside. Yet, you will find that nature provides you with all that you want.
The beaches of Chennai are almost always lined with couples and you will be able to spend some wonderful time together while gazing out at the ocean. The Eliot beach and the Marina Beach are both very popular but the former is supposed to be a little less crowded. While there are quite a few trendy cafes in Chennai, the Amethyst Café definitely is the cherry on the cake. Not only is the food here very delicious, but you will the décor very unique and interesting as well. The café also happens to sell a number of items from leading fashion designers. 6. Cholamandal Artists Village
There is always something very interesting about visiting an artist’s village and appreciating what they can make. This place is actually very close to the aforementioned Dakshin Chitra so you can visit them both at once. Even if you do not love art that much, it is still an interesting and quiet place to spend some time with your beloved.
There is hardly anything more fun than enjoying some time boating and it will also give you the opportunity to spend some alone time together. If you are the more adventurous type then you may hire a ski boat and shoot across the lake which happens to be connected to Bay of Bengal. 8. Pulicat Lake
Being the second largest brackish water lake in India, this lake also has a bird sanctuary around it and both of you will have great time together going through it. Be sure to carry binoculars as you would not want to miss out on the birds around you. This is also a great place to have a picnic because you must pack in some food of your own because there aren’t restaurants here in the vicinity. You will also catch a wonderful glimpse of the fishermen coming home after a day’s work and it is will be a great thing to watch.
9. Take Surfing Lessons Together
Head to Covelong together and take up surfing lessons together if you want to spend some quality time together. You will also get to know your partner better as you go through the day. You will find there are a number of surfing schools in Covelong which is a short ride from Chennai and there are both courses for beginners as well as advanced multi- day courses. The prices are INR 1000 upwards.
10. Spend a Weekend in Mahabalipuram
Mahabalipuram is famous for sanctuaries which are carved out of rock and many of them are in the shapes of rathas, mandapas and there is also open air rock relief as well. The Descent of the Ganges happens to be the most famous and there is the Shore Temple as well. Quite a few others are dedicated to Lord Shiva as well. The Group of Monuments together have been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a great couples spot in Chennai.
11. Taj Fishermen’s Cove
If you want to really impress your beloved and money is not a problem, then head to the Fishermen’s Cove from Taj. It is one of the most coveted luxury destinations on the city and the food here is simply amazing. It happens to have a world class restaurant here and the best thing is that you can watch live shows as you dine. Moreover, being a private resort, you will have acres of clean beach all to yourself.
12. Sport Fishing
Sport fishing is an adventurous sport and if you are likeminded couple then you can try this out. It is definitely a unique way to spend the day. They have all the boats and accessories that one can need and they will also arrange light snacks for you if you have booked in advance. Depending on how much time you want to spend together, you can book a trip starting from 2 hours and go up till 8 hours. You have to go through Barracuda Bay to try this sport.
13. Visit St. Thomas Mount
If you want to burn some calories and want to take a walk then all of it can be done together as you head for St. Thomas’ Mount. This is a wonderful place to go for a date together. The place is located close to the airport and there is a church on top. Take the stairs to reach the top together and then enjoy a magnificent view of the city of Chennai spread out below. If enjoying art together is your way of having a date then look no further. The museum is empty during the weekdays and so you will have the privacy to spend the day together. You will enjoy the day together amidst art and culture and then you can head towards one of the many restaurants nearby. 15. Anna Zoological Park
Yes, even grownups can have all the fun in the world when they are visiting the zoo. You will have to go a short distance to Tambaram to reach the zoo via the national highway and then walk around the zoo or even hire old bicycles to try out the vast expanse of the zoo. If you could just ignore some of the lack luster facilities then this is a great place to hang out and talk about your own childhood.
16. Amusement Park
There are a number of amusement parks in Chennai which are situated along the Chennai Bangalore Highway. They are fun and amusing in their own way and you will have a great time together trying out the different rides. It would be the perfect place to break the ice and enjoy talking to one another in a light hearted manner. The entry fee is INR 200 per head approximately.
To go to Luz Avenue, you need to go to Mylapore and you will not find this place listed anywhere much. Nevertheless, the place is just what you need to go on a date. In the middle of Luz Avenue is Nageshwar Rao Park and it is a public park but very calm and very well maintained. The park has a lovely meandering track and there are lots of places to sit and talk. The Avenue is located near TTK Road and CP Rameswamy Road and there are plenty of chic cafes and fine dining spaces here as well. You will love the quality time you spend here.
